THE JIMMYS (USA)

Music-Style: Chicago Blues

AWARD WINNER

EUROPEAN BOOKING

The Jimmys

“I feel sorry for any band that has to follow this act. They rock! ” - Roy Elkins

Over the past twelve years, The Jimmys have solidified their brand of blues and R&B throughout the Midwest, Canada, Europe and the Caribbean.

Led by award-winning keyboardist/organist Jimmy Voegeli, the band has been called a "festival favorite" by numerous reviews and magazines. The Jimmys play the best of what Chicago blues is all about. In 2003, they received a Grammy Award nomination for "Contemporary Blues Album" for 18 years he played with the Westside Andy and Mel Ford Band, which was named "Best Blues Band in Wisconsin" and "Best Band in Madison" several times.

awards.

Bandleader and frontman Jimmy Voegeli has stood with such greats as Pinetop Perkins, Rusty Zinn, Guitar Shorty, Joe Bonamassa, Perry Weber, Rev Raven, Billy Flynn, Tab Benoit, James Solberg, Shirley King, EC Scott, Clyde Stubblefield, Ben Sidran, Ken Saydak and Dave Specter on stage.

Six-time award-winning keyboardist/vocalist Jimmy Voegeli is joined by a fantastic all-star band:

- Chris Sandoval, drums (Tommy Castro)

- John Wartenweiler, bass (The Crashers)

- Blues veteran Perry Weber, guitar (Hurbert Sumlin)

Their unique sound is rounded out by Wisconsin's finest horn section:

- Pete Ross, saxophone (Glenn Miller Orchestra)

- Mike Boman, Trumpet (Youngblood Brass Band)

- Joe Goltz, Trombone (Youngblood Brass Band)

These three have honed their skills over the years playing with the original Funky drummer himself, Clyde Stubblefield. The Jimmys represent the sound that is the great city of Chicago Blues, Boogie Woogie , Rhythm & Blues and Soul. On stage this band is an absolute highlight. Great piano, guitar and bass solos await you!

Great band in the spirit of old school R&B. The Jimmys rightfully keep the R&B flame alive and burning. The Jimmys are a musically high quality band that you should definitely pay close attention to. With a horn section, Chicago-style blues guitar and a B3 Hammond, this seven-piece rocks like no other!

Press quote:

"The Jimmys are one hard act to follow at a blues festival...they've got it all: songs, musicianship and showmanship. Great guys. Great Sounds!"

(Tinsley Ellis, recording artist)

"Killer horns, greasy guitars, funky keys, and a rhythm section with a heart and soul the size of Brazil. This is a GREAT band that plays blues and everything else in between. Get ready for The Jimmys!"

(Bryan Lee, Braille Blues Daddy)

"The Jimmys are one of the summer festival seasons top 10 acts"

(Arnold Goodman, Elmore Magazine)

“Whether you’re a Blues fan or not, Jimmy Voegeli is always fun to watch and a pleasure to listen.”

Dan Baird; Singer songwriter (frontman for the Georgia Satellites) producer

"Tight well crafted songs, fabulous players, and strong vocals. What are you waiting for? Get it"

(Bill Wax - premier Blues DJ)

Wow!  I love this record!  It’s funky and rambunctious and I was dancing from the first note.  Soul music for the 21st Century.  If you like Delbert and the Phantom Blues Band, you’ll love this “Hot Dish.”

(Marcia Ball)

"The Jimmys played our 20th anniversary and knocked it out of the park. Great energy, red hot horn section, 3 top vocalists and charisma that engages the audience. I highly recommend The Jimmys for any festival. You'll be hooked."

(Ted Boomer, founder, Windsor Ontario Bluesfest International)

If you enjoy Roomful Of Blues (can there be anyone who doesn’t?) try The Jimmys – you won’t be disappointed! Superb album.

(John Mitchell, Blues Blast Magazine, UK)

“The Jimmys are a powerhouse aggregation - red-hot keyboards & taut guitar licks fueled by a killer horn section, generating an exhilarating mix of roadhouse blues & raucous rock-n-roll."

(Mark Thompson, President, Crossroads Blues Society)

”The Jimmys are a foot-tapping, well connected blues band! This band opened up our 19th annual Big Bull Falls Blues Fest and the crowd asked for more. This band is a “must have” for any music festival!”

(Terry Sturm - President, Wausau Area Events and Blues Fest Committee)

“What a great band! I love these guys. I dare you to stay in your seat when they start rockin!”

(Gabby Parsons...Music Director, Madison WI WMMM)

When Otis' plane went down in Wisconsin waters, they must have left something in the water since this award winning crew is from Madison, but they certainly sound like a chitlin circuit show band -- even if they are a bunch of white boys from the exurbs. You can picture this horn section working it at the Dexter Lake Club with Otis Day and the Nights, but we aren't talking about that Otis. This set is an R&B show you can take with you wherever you go, and the party never quits. Killer stuff.

(Midwest Record Entertainment)

We almost overlooked this album. Enjoyable Rhythm 'n' Blues with strong, broad brass sections and the best analog production is offered by the US ensemble The Jimmys on their current longplayer "Hot Dish".

The record fulfills all expectations of this music genre, so that the enthusiasm for "Hot Dish" arises immediately. The Jimmys are a septet from Wisconsin. Among the members there are three songwriters. This is certainly one reason why the music on "Hot Dish" is not only enormous fun, but also very high quality.  This might be our R'n'B record of the year.

(Global Music - World Music Magazine, Germany)

There is not a weak moment in this album. This is a record that swings, irrevocably made to dance, with a very high musical quality.

(Marcel Bénédit, ABS France)
