Blues Blast Award Nominee - New Artist Debut Release
Dyer Davis is an American singer/guitarist who has just released his debut album on Wild Roots Records.
He has spent the last 8 years of his young life as a rock musician and recently parted ways with the band Rubber Soul Child. Now, at 23, he has returned to the music that first inspired him to become a musician. As a child, his father, also a musician, got him hooked on the music of the '60s and '70s.
The artists that appealed to him the most were the blues-based rockers, especially the early Jeff Beck records with Rod Stewart. This conveyed to him the importance of the blues as the main foundation for the music he gravitated to. Blues, rock and soul are the pillars of his music, with which Dyer Davis appeals to both the "old" and the new generation of blues.
In Europe, Dyer is currently still a real insider tip, but this young man should be on the focus!
Press quote:
The album is not produced to please. In no way smoothly ironed, made equal, lifelessly sucked down. It sounds rather colossal, halleuja. It shows a wealth of ideas, edges and corners, primal power, passion and a lot of soul.

Dyer Davis opens the new year with Dog Bites Back, a brilliant set mixing blues, rock and soul with one of the most exciting new voices in all three genres!
(Graham Clarke Blues Bytes)
"The journey from the first track to the last on Dyer's album is as important as the destination - enjoy it all the way!"
(Michael Limnios Blues Hall of Fame)
"Dyer Davis brings a new immediacy to blues and blues-rock, singing as if he were exploring a deep recess within himself. His album catapults him to the forefront of the most promising young emerging artists."
(Frank-John Hadley DownBeat)
"Davis' vocal strength and inspired songwriting skills, combined with his remarkable abilities as a guitarist, make Dyer Davis one of the hottest new names in the contemporary world of the blues/rock genre." -
(Gio Pilato Bluebird Reviews)
"Dyer Davis stands out from other blues rockers.... he's not only a great guitarist, but a great singer and arranger. Think Stevie Ray Vaughan and the Black Crows."
(Lew Jetton Show host State Line Blues)
"Every song here exudes the magical, untouchable feeling of someone about to become great. Davis has the skills, maturity and artistry of players twice his age, and stands out as an individual, even in a crowded field. Dog Bites Back is one of the strongest debut albums to come out in a long time. There's every indication that Dyer Davis is well on his way to becoming one of the leading artists in contemporary blues. Remember: you heard it here first."
(Rock & Blues Muse review - by Mike O'Cull)
"This is the most exciting thing I've heard since Cristone Kingfish Ingram's debut." Dog Bites Back has the wild energy of Zeppelin's early material; this original and exciting blend of rock 'n' blues has what it takes to blow your mind!"
(Hot Wax Record Reviews by The Rock Doctor *****+)
"This is an exceptional album. On the first listen through, I thought what a beautiful, soulful blues rock CD it is. On the second listen through, I was even more impressed, and with each listen I hear more and more, which tells me that this is a truly great piece of work. I highly recommend it, and I have a feeling that people will take notice of this album when the next award shows come around - it really is a great album!"
(Blues Blast Magazine senior writer Steve Jones)
"Dyer's guitar playing on Train Wreck and the title track Dog Bites Back is right up there with Paul Kossoff and Ronnie Wood; totally unobtrusive but fierce and, dare I say it, sexy too; yet he never overplays his hand or threatens those furious vocal performances...showing a young singer at the peak of his ability as he enunciates every single word while sounding utterly rock star. WOWZA! It blew me away!"
(Rocking Magpie Review UK)
"All the pieces fit together perfectly, and the result is outstanding. "Dog Bites Back" is an understatement. This is a dog that holds on and never lets go! Highly entertaining, thoroughly suspenseful, and a pure pleasure from beginning to end. A great debut that gets better and more interesting with repeated listens. Dyer Davis is going to set the music world on fire for years to come. Well Done !!!"
