THOM and THE TONE MASTERS

Best instrumental blues album ward 2016

BLUES JUNCTION (USA)

THOM AND THE TONE MASTERS is a blues band passionate about blues, swing and jazz, focusing on the instrumental tunes of the 1950s

(Tiny Grimes, Pee Wee Crayton, Mickey Baker ...).

"Vintage Sound, New Swing" is perhaps what best summarizes the spirit of THOM AND THE TONE MASTERS, the instrumental combo developed by guitarist THOMAS HIRSCH.

Their first album "RHYTHM SHOT", released on drums in 2016 with Franck Deshays (rhythmic guitar), Eric Preterre (saxophones), Bertrand Couloume (Upridebass) and Stéphane Moureu, is the perfect example. THOM AND THE TONE MASTERS are inspired by instrumental Afro-American music with references like Mickey Baker, Tiny Grimes, Bill Jennings, Earl Hooker, Goree Carter and many more.

But then, most of all, they cover original compositions and stories that give live sessions a unique, surprising atmosphere. In 2016, the band was awarded the Best Instrumental Blues Album Award. Written by US Specialized BLUES JUNCTION by David Mac: "Last year, there were some great instrumental albums released on Thom's Rhythm Shot, and the Tone Masters is the best of the best."

On stage, their originality and spontaneity are best displayed with great shows at Walter De Paduwas Blues Café (RTBF), the Suwalki Blues Festival in Poland, the Rouen Jazz Club, the Bay Car Blues Festival (FR), the beautiful Swamp Blues Festival (FR), the Music Village Jazz Club in Brussels, the Jazz en Nord festival, the Jazz Club Montparnasse Jazz Club

... and many others.

In 2018, the combo will be reinforced with the international Hammond B3 player Frederic Scamps, adding another dimension to their musicality. In July of this year her longplayer was recorded by MUSIGRAM. Their new EP «CHIPPEWA» is now available for radios and showcases.

Press:

SOUL BAG n ° 223 - "it swings, it's jump, varied, sensitive blues. Guitar-saxophone interactions in the rhythmics are tasty"

(Christophe Mourot).

BLUES MAG # 81 - "... a very high level record, to be placed between the language of the Soul by Ronnie Earl and the conversations, in swing by Duke Robillard and Herb Ellis" - Coup de Coeur

(Patrick Dallongeville).

Checkin' out the new EP "Chippewa," the follow-up to Thom and the Tone Masters' fabulous 2016 debut CD, "Rhythm Shot." Formerly a guitarist for the French blues quartet, the Blues Eaters (check 'em out!), Thomas Hirsch has a great ear for melody and a rich, full-bodied tone that honors the swinging guitar stylings of Bill Jennings, Tiny Grimes and Billy Butler. "Chippewa" features three all new instrumental tunes penned by Hirsch that are worthy of your attention. Thanks once again for the great music Thom!
