Going Down To Provo (2020)
Music Style: Modern Electric Blues
Blind Dog Mayer & Dr. Slide on the occasion to work together again to inspire the blues fans at festivals and in the clubs.
Her new project, called "TUFF ENUFF", is based on a title of the "Fabulous Thunderbirds" and symbolizes the excellent interaction between Kim Wilson (harmonica) and Jimmy Vaughan (guitar). At the moment the two musicians are in the studio to record a new CD in the style of "Modern Electric Blues" to present it live in 2020.
We live in a world dominated by digital media. Music is manipulated digitally until it supposedly sounds "perfect". Everything human, corners and edges are polished away.
Dr. Slide is different, real and analog, does not want to be perfect, prefers wild and free, not to put to sleep, but to shake awake, sometimes to challenge contradiction, to carry it away - to be alive! Edgy, drawn by the harsh wind of life, still hopelessly romantic, that's all Dr. Slide and that's how his music sounds. With his irrepressible energy and a wonderfully weird sense of humor - without neglecting the spiritual side of life - he captivates the audience.
He lives for and through his music, plays with all his heart and soul, paints his life stories in his own, real colors, with a voice that gets under your skin. The jaws drop when he plays various guitars, self-made instruments and a square corner -Dobrosvirtuos and confident, as if there was nothing easier in this world, playing behind the head, balancing over the table and chairs or just walking through the rows to be very close to his audience. After several encores, Dr. Slide enchants its listeners with a feeling of new vitality, strength and bliss in this beautiful world.
References: He learned his trade in the Mississippi Delta from the great old masters of the blues like: John Lee Hooker, Bo Diddley and Johnny Winter. Dr. Slide had the honor of performing with the following international blues greats: Pinetop Perkins, Willie “Big Eyes” Smith, RL Burnside, Junior Kimbrough, John Mooney, Son Seals, Luther Allison, Bob Margolin, Michael Burks, Bob Stroger, Johnny Dillinger , Fruteland Jackson, Joey Gilmore, Eric Sardinas, Abi Wallenstein, Marc Breitfelder, Kees Shippers, and many more...
The German television then became aware of him, and the MDR sent a film team to the USA to produce and broadcast a half-hour article about him there.
