EVERYWHERE FROM HERE (2017)
Support & Opener:
"Joel DaSilva is a fantastic guitarist and I look forward to every opportunity to work with him."
He plays with a big heart and a big sound. "- Billy Gibson - 2009 Blues Music Award Instrumentalist of the Year.
Joel DaSilva is one of those artists who give the blues a touch of youthfulness while remaining in the spirit. The strict suit, the well-knotted tie, the polished pumps and the impeccable hairstyle are the hallmarks of the Chicago Bluesman.
As a son of traveling musicians from Brazil DaSilva lost his father at the age of three, which profoundly influenced the life of the young artist.
At the age of 18, DaSilva appeared as lead guitarist for "Junior Drinkwater and the Thirst Quenchers," earning his first musical experience. He starred with the regulators, The Underbellies and
thirteen years with the Hep Cat Boo Daddies.
DaSilva has worked with many well - known blues musicians such as BBKing, Buddy Guy, Ray Charles, The White Stripes, AC Reed, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Reverend Horton Heat, Foghat, Los Lobos, Leon Russell, The Black Crowes, Nighthawks, Steven Tyler (Aerosmith ), Jimmie Vaughan, Coco Montoya, the Alabama Shakes,
Magic Slim & The Teardrops together.
His career highlights include several appearances at the International Jazz & Blues Festival Montreal, the IBC Challenges at Memphis, Mont Tremblant International Music Festival, Curacao Music Festival, Riverwalk Blues Festival, the San Diego Music and Roots Festival.
And not to forget the terrific festival opener for Jeff Beck (Sunfest Music Festival) and Robin Trower (Parker Playhouse).
DaSilva has played well over 750 shows from Los Angeles to London throughout his musical career.
In addition to his music career, DaSilva appeared in two indipendent films, including his portrayal of "Sheriff Cousins"
in the creepy noir-indie movie "Sleep," which was screened at the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival and the California Film Festival.
He also wrote the soundtrack to "Sleep" with electronics artist Kevin Kage.
On stage, the guitarist and singer from Chicago shows entertainer qualities!
Sehr fein gemachter Blues in Chicagoer Tradition
(az - bluesnews - Dezember 2017 )
By the end, you will probably want to go back and listen to many of the tracks again. DaSilva’s approach is definitely more grounded in the blues than many artists mining the blues-rock convergence point. As a singer, songwriter, and guitarist, he definitely is worth a listen.
(Mark Thompson - Blues Blast Magazine- Januar 2018 )
DaSilva’s father was a touring singer/guitarist in Brazil, and his mother a singer from Ukraine, which certainly explains the diversity of musical styles shown on this album. Asked to describe his musical style and sound, DaSilva replied, “If Johnny Cash were to meet up with Buddy Guy while having a few drinks with Bruce Springsteen at a Brian Setzer concert!” One only has to listen to Everywhere from Here to realize that DaSilva was completely serious, but his musical chops are strong enough to pull it off, and to do so with ease. DaSilva is an artist to watch.
(Martine Ehrenclou - Rock nad Blues Muse - Januar 2018 )
Everywhere From Here is a fine addition to any collection.
Listeners will find themselves going back to it again and again.
(Barry Kerzner - American Bluesscene - September 2017)
(Martijn Wesseling - Blues Magazine - September 2017)
It’s no surprise to learn that he names the likes of Robert Nighthawk, Buddy Guy, and Muddy Waters as influences because he just oozes the blues.
He’s also got some contacts as Richie Supa (Aerosmith) and Stephen Gibb (Bee Gee offspring) pop up in the cowriting credits but this record remains all about Joel as he rattles through ten tunes which make up my favourite blues album of the year to date. There’s not a bum note on offer but ‘Down In The Delta’, ‘Cadillac Mama’ and ‘This Day I Bleed’ are the standouts for me. Blues fans really need to check this out a bit sharpish.
(Stuart Hamilton - The Rocker.co.uk - Oktober 2017)
“ His fantastic debut/self-titled album chock full of heartfelt and passionate songwriting and guitar work “
(Eric Schuurmans - Rootstime. BE - 2017)
Cool record, some might even say ‘skookum’- but whatever you choose to label this kind of blues,
Everywhere But Here is most definitely worth having around.
(John Kerreif - Rock Doctor - Oktober 2017)
Mit dem Album "Everywhere From Here" fügt Joel DaSilva seiner Karriere ein weiteres musikalisches Highlight hinzu.
